New tank for me, but my dad had before. Just moved it.....WITH water, so water conditions tested ok. ALL new fish tho. 29 gallon w/ AC200 Anyone had this problem? Should I just turn down the flow till the tetra's get bigger? Help. |

For now, you should be able to put a piece of ladies nylon over it it but it could restrict the flow too much. Alternatively, take an old fishnet (or a new one for that matter since they are so cheap) and cut out a piece you can place over the intake and rubberband. Most healthy fish would not be getting sucked up an intake unless the filter were overpowering or the fish were ill and weak. But you do say they are young. By all means reduce the flow. Have you checked ammonia and nitrite lately? You say it is good, but are they zero? It's just unusual for fish to get sucked up. But as added protection, put a piece of fishnet over it. Then, look for a screen adapter. I'm going to request this get moved to technical or general. This forum is for sick fish so you won't get the right kind of traffic into your thread. At least, not as much. Last edited by Cory_Di at 23-Mar-2005 19:33 |

They kinda get "jammed" against it. They are about 1 1/4 cm in length. VERY small still. I have never seen an inlet tube with a screen on it before. Just the "slits" in the end of the tubes. |

Just rubberband a piece of fishnet around the entire slitted screen. Of course, you'll have to destroy a fish net to do that. That should not reduce the flow too much. They may get stuck to it, but maybe not if you reduce the flow. |

Naturally this gets blocked very quickly. All you have to do is take it out and rinse it in old tank water this is the prefered method or clean it under a running tap.
