I have two visitherm heaters and noticed that after unplugging them and replugging them a red light did not flash. Seeing that we're in summer my tank's temperature is above the temperature I have set the heaters at. Could this be the reason for no light appearing or are they supposed to flash when turned on and then immediately turn off?

More than likely the tank is warm enough without them so that is why they aren't kicking on like you are expecting...But, exactly how long are you leaving them off, before turning them on again? I've heard you should wait about 10-15 minutes, I believe...either way I wouldn't worry too much, just keep an eye on the temps to make sure you don't end up with fishie soup:#(heidi

heaters r equip with thermo sensors...u turn the dial to ur temp liking...if ur tank is hotter than the set temp..then it wont turn on....only when the temp falls lower than the setting will it kick on...so.i dont even bother unplugging my heaters (all 3 of them in my 3 tanks) coz its useless....i sumtimes see them turn on to equilibrate the temp.

The little red neon is just to tell you that the heater is working it is not a on/off light.

Heidi is correct you should let the heater sit in the tank for up to 30min to allow the heater to adjust to the tank temperature before turning it on.
