I have a 200 watt visitherm heater in my 45 gal tank, it's maybe 18 months old. Keeps temperature very well but it makes a fairly loud click every time it cycles on and then again when it cycles off. Is it something to be concerned about? I've had several heaters before including visitherms and none have clicked like this one does. Should I replace it to be on the safe side or not worry about it?

All the heaters I've had have clicked to varying degrees, and I've never had a problem (except for my new heater, but that's a thermostat issue, not a clicking issue ). I think it is just a consequence of the element turning on.

To be honest I have never heard one click at all. It is the switch system and that is all. It "could" be on the way out and personally I would buy another one as it will break down just when you don't want it to.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
