i have this lichtfixture that is hanging from the ceiling in my basement and i was wondering if i could juse it for a new 20 gallon tank i would try heavy planted the lightf. is 4 foot long and 15 inches width and its about 80 watt could i convert that in fluoriserend licht
its a worklicht that hangs from the ceiling with iron chains

There are many hobbyists that convert shop lights to use on their aquarium setups. However, in this case would this lighting not be too large for a 20 gallon tank, even a 20 gallon long is only 30" wide.

How were you going to place it above the aquarium. Were you going to hang it from the ceiling, or were you going to set it on top of the tank. Which ever way you do place it there will be an extensive amount of overhang.

Hi,
The work light I had on my 55 was a two tube fixture
similar to your description. The problem I had with it
was moisture. It was not designed to be placed atop an
aquarium. Eventually condensation would collect inside
it caused it to rust ( they are sheet metal painted over)
and the connections corroded.
