With tanks 55 gallon and larger many prefer to split the amount and purchase two heaters setting one at each end of the tank and allowing the currents within the tank to mix the water. The choice is up to you. If using one filter and one filter return, then place A heater beside the return and allow it to heat the tank and mix that way. If you have more than one filter and filter return then you could purchse two heaters and place them near the return from the heaters..
