bubble wand with low back pressure | |
victimizati0n Banned Posts: 1217 Kudos: 1105 Votes: 31 Registered: 29-Apr-2004 | Hey guys, do any of you know a bubble want with low back pressure? The one i have in there now http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=12084&inm=1&N=2004+113405+113133 (it is in black though) Has VERY high back pressure, i can hardly blow through it, and i feel really bad for my air pump (even though it is made for high back pressure) Is there any good ones out there like that? (Personally, i love the smaller bubbles, but i dont want a zillion small bubbles) Thanks |

Note that it takes up to 48 hours to get the wand fully working. Until then, there will be a large amount of back pressure. If your pump is built to handle it, I would not worry. If it is not, you can always purchase a gang valve with one input and two outputs. Connect one to the wand, and attach a 12 inch length of hose to the second tap. Insert a pipe cleaner into the hose, and then open the valve for the wand, and crack open the hose valve. Adjust the hose valve (open/closed) so the wand works and the back pressure escapes out the hose with the pipe cleaner. The pipe cleaner will act as a muffler to quiet any hissing sound of the air escaping out the hose. Many, many, years ago, I had one airstone and I connected it to the only pump I had at that time. The back pressure was so much that the pump actually clattered. Good luck, or try to find a way to "sound proof" the pump while not restricting the air flow into it and the cooling of it.
