Now that I have a vortex filter. Should i run this as a secondary filter when needed or should I just run it all the time & put my regular power filter aside.

By all means marry; if you get a good wife, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

Hi,
The Vortex is an outstanding filter, and properly cared
for will last a life time. I have one that I've use for
over 40 years. Normally, it sits on a shelf, disassembled,
and ready for action if necessary. I have a substrate that
is 100% flourite, and on the occassions that I really
ransack the substrate making major changes in the planting
scheme, I run the filter for a couple of hours.

They are truly amazing filters and each time I run mine,
the water seems to disappear, and the fish an plants seem
to exist in crystal. As their ad says, it truly does
polish the water to crystal clarity.

They are not designed for 24/7 usage, and will clog up
and then heat up if they are used that way.
