filtration? Is it enough? | |
houston Fish Guru You want what when? Posts: 2623 Kudos: 2462 Votes: 337 Registered: 29-Mar-2003 | OK I broke down and decided to go with a "better filtration" system for my 125...but with me not going with what I know, I'm wondering if I really have enough filtration...Heck even with the UGF that I know, I don't know if it would be enough, I really think it is the size of the tank, that is confusing me, then to add a filtration device I'm not sure about, well I'm confused:%) and I don't have the instruction book So what I have right now is: Odyssea CFS 4 Canister Freshwater System From what I can find, this is what I know: This is from an EBay add: Desc Well folks it is time to say goodby to the Jebo 828!! Jebo/Odyssea has redsigned the look of the old 828 and now they call it the Odyssea CFS 4!! For the most part everything has stayed the same except they made some modifications to the priming unit which is suppose to be a lot more user friendly and of course the hot new look. Anyway here are the specs and be the first to get the new Odyssea CFS 4!!! Exceptional value perfect ecological external canister filter. Suitable for Marine and Fresh water with superstrong filtration capacity. Suitable for tanks 3 feet and above, this filter is rated at 1200 lph. The Odyssea canister filter system uses a multi-stage approach to filtration, separating a number of distinct filter materials into easy access baskets. The wide variety of filter materials provide waste-free water, strong biological purification and active control of water characteristics. By combining wide media choice with ease of access, the aquarist can customize filtration style to the aquarium's actual need. Media included. With the turnaround valves of safety design, water flow can be controlled delicately as desired. The connecting tube ends are threaded to prevent the rubber pipes from loosening. Press the round circular button, water from the tank will flow into the filter, the air will then be squeezed out and go to the other end of the outlet tube. The filter media is designed in simple modules for easy replacement and cleaning. They will not be confused with each other. The media boxes are very light 1200 LPH 4 stage filtration quiet and extremely reliable includes all filter media includes flow control valves ( taps ) includes all hoses and everything necessary to get started 12 month warranty I figured it is about 371 gallons/hour...for a 125 gallon tank is this enough? I have another one I bought by mistake that the ]:| store won't take back unless I want store credit, so I still have it...so should I hook it up on the other end of the tank? Should I go back to my UGF that I know and understand? HELP!!! Oh yeh, I am planning on running about 70" of airstones off of pumps to add extra oxygen into the tank...Help me please as I am confused...Heidi heidi attached this image: "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." Putting the two units to work will give you a maximum filter turnover of 740 gph or about 6 times an hour for you 125G. I particularly like cannisters because of the high amount of material that you can place in the baskets. Place bio-rings in the first basket in the water flow followed by a finer product to also culture bacteria. Good examples of these products are Eheim's EfiMech and EfiSubstrat. Set up your spraybars or returns to give yourself good surface water movement. As long as you have good surface movement, you have no need for airstones. __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |
