No, you want to mix the salt and water before putting it in the tank. You never want to add salt directly to the tank.

You could get the imposter python, made by Lees Aquarium Products, if you cannot find the original, real python. I'm sure Lees is a bit more widespread and available there.. but don't forget i'm in the US, so don't be quotin' me

You could probably find one on line somewhere if they don't have them in Australia.

I asked once before and no aussies answered... is the python cleaning set up available in Australia. I would buy one as I am in possession of a back injury and a 4 ft tank. Not the best combination.

Yes, draining is ok, but filling you'll want to mix it outside of the tank.

My boyfriend got me a python for Christmas and I swear I will never go back to bucket hauling again I had a few kinks in the beginning, got water all over the floor (luckily it wasn't fishy water) and all over my boyfriend (hilarious, but he didn't think so), but I think I finally got the hang of it. Thanks to all who recommended this great fish keeping necessity to me!

Few, I'm not the only one who has done that!
Worse yet, is if you were draining the tank with a normal vaccumming, and didn't watch the end hose into the bucket and it went everywhere... Not that I've ever done that Glad to hear I'm not the only one who got one for Christmas...I had a few glitches myself at first...mainly with the 29 gallon (close to sink, and I didn't want to unwind all the way )

Thanks for the advice on how to drain all the water from the hose...it was getting awfully hard to stand on the highest point of the apartment to drain it ...and the bucket idea, I've been using since the beginning...don't have a bucket? (who with fish don't have buckets?) Head to your local donut shop in the mornings and ask them about their frosting buckets...they are great and sometimes you'll get lucky and get a lid too!

have fun!!! :%)

I just have a tendency to make things that should be really easy ridiculously hard. Basically I wasn't holding the end in the tank down and it just flew out of the tank and got water everywhere. Once I figured it out though, it was actually pretty easy and I felt incredibly silly.

Jen,

I store my python in a five gallon bucket with the faucet adapter, two old toothbrushes and a scrub pad. I use one toothbrush to hold open the sink drain to accomodate water flow, one toothbrush to clean the inside corners of the aquarium, the scrub pad is to remind me to clean the glass during the water change.

When I get done, I drain the Python by placing the gravel end in the bathtub and then begin coiling the faucet end into the bucket...
