Used one of these? CLICK ME!!

If they don't work I am thinking I will start building a power diffuser.

From what I've read of reports here they work quite well.

If you already have a DIY setup and can just purchase the ladder it could be attached to what you already have to recieve the same results.

If you have all the supplies for a diffuser already they work as well, and could be a little easier to hide depending on the size of the tube you use.

i used one and had trouble with it back syphoning when i took the lid off, so i would recommend keeping it above tank level or installing a non return valve in the system. unless of course you have enough pipe to raise it above water level before opening it.
otherwise it seamed ok.

Oh man I really left out some info. I already have a diy co2 system running and I am looking for a better diffuser than a 20 oz. bottle as a bell diffuser. I am either thinking of using just the lader or making a power diffuser with a pump and pipe.

Something like......this

I have two of these canisters hooked up to one ladder, and I alternate refilling one cannister per week, and I get a lot of CO2 out of it. I think the ladder works quite well as a diffuser, just make sure it is level in the tank, and near the bottom. Because the cannisters are so small, though, the mix doesn't last very long (which is why I change one cannister every week, making one cansiter last only two weeks). I also don't use the pre-packaged yeast tablets, but fill sugar up to the first level, then ad 1 tsp. baking soda, and about 1/4 tsp. yeast, then fill with warm water up to the second level, stir, and cap. You may want to try a few different mixes to find one that works well for you, or you could ditch the canisters altogether and just hook up a regular 2 litre bottle to the ladder and it will work fine.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

Thanks for you help. I am not using their set up for the canisters. I made my own with a 2 litter a while back and I have been using a 20oz bottle as a bell for the past month or so. I really like the lader set up because it is easy to use and is not an eye sore in the tank.

I use a powerhead diffuser similar to what you pictured.
Mine uses an old gravel vac tube that cracked off, I've stuck the powerhead in the hole, and the airline tube down inside. Then the inside of the gravel vac tube was filled with some netting from a vegetable bag. The powerhead I'm using doesnt have an intake tube like AC powerheads to so I wasnt able to directly insert the airline tube into the powerhead.

Since I havent yet siliconed the powerhead onto the tube there is a small gap that some of the CO2 bubbles escape from, but for the most part it works quite well. The netting traps the CO2 from escaping up (and was free ), the powerhead keeps the bubble from moving too far up the tube too fast and allows the water to move from inside the tube.
I have pictures around somewhere ( I think ) if you're interested.

Lets see what you have for pictures. I might have to try it sometime. Right now my buble lader is working quite well!
