Check out this site: http://paul.aaquaria.com/ProfilesHome2/plantprofiles/gloss/glosso.htm Note that under lighting requirements the remarks are "Bright, Very Bright." That should mean 3+ watts/gallon to start. I'm sure that some of our readers are propagating the plant with less than 3 watts, but probably in shallow tanks where the light would be stronger and less diffuse than in a 40 gallon tank.
