Are these filters any good? I've had it with my magnum 350 cannister. To start with it took me 3hours to set it up when I first got it. Then it kept filling with air even after emailing marineland and trying what was suggested. It also drained enough water all over my carpet that it took months to dry. I tossed it in the closet and got another power filter until I set up my new 90g yesterday. I gave the filter 1 more chance and ended up draining about 3" of water out of the 90g. The guinea pigs and I did not appreciate the shower. Right when I think it's setup some connection pops loose and it took most of those 3hrs to get the stupid bands that were suppose to keep it from leaking or coming apart onto all those tubes. My fingers were sore from fixing connections and I was soaked. The filter isn't even worth just using for water movement.

I think you have answered you own question with all those problems just toss it out and go and invest in a good quality canister. One thing to remember usually the higher the cost the better the unit. If you buy another cheaper unit the toltal cost would be close to a very good high quality Eheim.

I can honestly say I am not sorry I spent the extra $$$ and got it right first go.

The gph on the cannisters is low... I've been running two penguin 330 filters on my 55g. I was hoping to run the equivalent but use a cannister for mechanical and chemical filtration then keep 1 penguin for biological. The only reason I'm not just getting a bigger power filter is marineland's lack of options for filter cartridges and they clog within 1-2 weeks. The water starts running through the middle instead of past the biowheels. It seems like I'm constantly cleaning or changing cartridges. If I go by how many gph of power filters I had there isn't even a cannister listed on drfostersmith.com that reaches that.

Would an eheim classic 2215 work? It says up to 93gallons, 164gph and it looks like it fits 4? eheim media options.

The 2215 "would" work but you are right at its maxium useage. I would suggest going up to the 2217 this will give you a far greater efficiency for just a few extra $$

Go the Eheim site for more infomation.

I,m with keith on this one Eheim filters have proved to be superior in all respects to other filters i have used, also be mindful that due to an eheim's size you do not have to be so concerned about the amount of times the water is filtered per hour as with other filter types due to its sheer amount of media the water comes into contact with.

Gibson SG you know you want one!!

Not to cause a fuss, and all but heck that seems to be what i do best these past couple of days

I prefer the Jebo/Oddyssea to the Eheim...For me the Oddyssea 4 was very simple and easy to set up. I basically pulled it from the box, and followed the directions, filled it up, plugged it in, pushed the plunger and let it go...it was really very simple, and has caused me no problems since, even when the tank drained half way into the living room The next day, I refilled and let everything go back to plunger prime and go...

My eheim gave me fits, literally fits for several months till I finally got the stupid thing to run...maybe I had bad luck, maybe I'm stupid, maybe it's a bad filter (itself, not the brand), but I won't get another eheim...it literally took me 3 months to get it to prime and run...I won't count how many times I cussed it and yelled at it, and screamed here online about it...it was really awful experience, and I dread ever having to turn the thing off and clean it.

So that is my 2 cents...I apologize for the rant, but thought I'd throw it in...it could have just been me, and oh when the tank drained half way(yes, the 125) it was because of this one extra switch I didn't know about or see on the eheim 2213, and thus it drained everything till it could drain no more Me I'll go Oddyssea anytimeheidi

The problem I'm running into with odyssea is actually finding the filter, media, or parts for it. The only place I've seen it so far is on ebay. The eheim's are quite overpriced though. If I can't get one new for a good price off ebay I'm debating between a fluval 404 or odyssea filter. I've actually heard lots of good things about odyssea from other people and few problems. The main reason I'm still going with eheim for now is I'm told they are the quietest and Chris is complaining about fish tank noises already.
