Hey,
I have two filters working on my 56 gallon tank and they are supposed to do 1000 l/h each, one is internal one is external. I have a 3 inch oscar in there with a 2 inch common pleco, is there any negative effects of over filteration? I whacked the other filter in because oscars are messy eaters and plecos poo like no other.

is there any negative effects of over filteration?

Thanks in Advance

Dave

There is no such thing as overfiltering. Like, there is no such thing as being to intelligent, or too pure of heart. Ot too brave.

2000L is roughly 530Gallon
you tank is 56Gallon, there for the turnover rate is just under 10 times per hour which is quite normal
your tank is not over filtered at all

Also having more than 1 filter acts as redundancy in case of failure and does make cleaning easier as you can leave 1 filter alone whilst cleaning the other, thus not harming the bacteria.

Gibson SG you know you want one!!

The only problem that come from overfiltering is if theres too much water current that stresses the fish but in your case i dont think thats a problem.

My 55 had a eheim 2227 wet/dry pro, and eheim 2213 cannister and an AquaClear500, all i had to do was positiom so that they still worked well and didnt turn the tank into a whirlpool.
