is there a site that gives templates for this kind of thing? i was thinking of making a stand that lets me get my 4ft tank and my 50g on one stand with room for the filters, co2 tank, etc. can anyone give me any pointers?

Do a Google search on "Fish Tank Stands". You will find zillions of links.
Pointer #1: Water weighs 8.4 lbs per gallon. Make sure you build a beefy stand.
Pointer #2: Water weighs 8.4 lbs per gallon. Make sure the floor will hold up! You'll probably want to put it on a cement flooring.
