Hello

I'm almost in day 3 of treating my sterbai for fungus. I'm using Aqua Topia, Multi-Fix, which contains malachite green, methylene blue & acriflavine. I've been dosing at 1/2 strength, but can my sterbai take full strength treatment?

Thank you for any replies.

Cheers

So far I've been treating on half strength, but I've had 2 deaths. I hope it's okay to go full strength, but I guess that's what I'll try now to see if I can save the other sterbai's

Cheers

It might be too late but I dont think it is recommended to dose cories at full strength with meds that have malachite green and meth blue.

Any idea how they got fungus? Unfortunately fungus infections can kill a fish pretty quick. I hope you dont lose any more.

Let us know how you go.

Hi there,

sorry to hear you lost your fishes, i've had the same problem with my Aneas and I just did the full dose of SH2000, don't know if that's a known medicine in the US, but here it is. It has the same "ingredients" so the effect will be simular i guess. corries can take a lot so maybe you'd better try full dose.

good luck.

Thanks for the replies Lindy & dutchyfish.

They are new fish, in the QT tank. The fungus appeared a couple of days into their QT period. 1 died near the beginning of treatment. Tank has already had 2 doses (one dose every 3 days) at half strength, and I found the 2nd dead one while doing 50% water change last night. As 1/2 dose didn't seem to be working, I added the full strength dose last night after the water change.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Cheers

So far no more deaths, but all the sterbai in QT are very lethargic & I'm still seeing what I think is some sort of fungus on some of them. It's not furry, but just looks like there is a white coating on parts of their body. Not at all confident they are going to make it - they just sit on the bottom. My plan is to continue to do 50% water change every 3 days & then re-dose the meds. In between dosing, I'm thinking of adding melafix & pima fix, to see if that will help. They are joined in QT by some guppies, who seem not affected at all. They are happily swimming around, but I'm reluctant to transfer them to community tank, in case they carry something across with them.

dutchyfish, if you read this, how did you fish go after the treatment at full dose?

Cheers

Moved the remaining sterbai to a smaller QT tank, which I am treating with sulfa tablets. I only have 4 survivors now (3 died). These 4 show no visible sign of fungus, but still don't seem as active as they should be. Fingers crossed the worst may be over.

I'm sure my surviving 4 are going to make it. The change in meds has made all the difference to their recovery. No sign of fungus & they are back to vacuuming the tank.
