I prefer meds in capsule form so that I can open the gelatin capsule and mix the meds with water to create a solution to put into the tank. PraziPro is excellent for parasites. You can dilute the product to dose your flake food, an effective method to attack internal parasites. By the way, almost all fish have a parasite. Healthy fish are able to resist the demands created by parasites, stress and infection allow parasites to overwhelm fish. Mardel CopperSafe is also a good choice, particularly for ich. Furanase is very good at eliminating or controlling fungal problems. I do crush the tabs to dissolve the med before treating the aquarium. Each item is nice to have on hand but many products have shelf lives. They are not effective forever. The best initial response to a problem in the aquarium is a large water change wth gravel cleaning and filter maintenance. It is similar to moving your fish into a cleaner room. Many times, the fish will respond. __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |

All I have on hand all the time is Pimafix and Melafix. Also as Bob mentioned prevention is the best medicine. Another thing dont just buy any fish just because it looks cute or for any other reason know your LFS extremly well and know that their stock is always in god health. My LFS had to return a full shipment of Goldfish reason they were not happy with their looks and behaviour in the tanks. By doing this they keep their good name and dont sell problems so that you have to race back and buy medications. Another very important thing if there are young children around all meds must be put well out of reach not placed near the tanks just for easy to get to reasons. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do.
