My Oscar has a fungus that comes back and I have a 1800 km move in a month | |

I need to cure this as in a month I will be moving 1800 KM away and I think that if it is not fix he will not make the trip. I am trying Pimafix this time. It says to dose daily for 7 day. After 7 days make 25% water change. Treatment can be continued if necessary. Now how much longer after the cotton tufts are gone should I treat for? Is the second week of treatment going to be needed? |

Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes. |

Depending on what meds you were using before it is possible that you got most of it but not all of it and it was able to easily return. You do have him by himself correct? And you're using bacterial starters after you finish treatments right? For the move you might want to check with your LFS if they have any of the sleeping tablets for fish that are used for transport, might also check big Als online to see if they carry them if your LFS doesn't. You'll really want to reduce stress for this guy. ^_^ |

Yes I am using bacterial starter after treatment. I look on Big Al's but I could not find sleeping tablets. I went to one of the LFS and they did not know what I was talking about. If any one knows where I can get some please tell me. |

What other fish are in the tank and what is the tank size? Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes. |

In the 80 gallon tank I have 10 inch sick Oscar, 8 inch Oscar, 6 inch albino sail fin pleco and 4 inch firemouth. Babelfish, All the other fish are doing well and have NEVER been sick before. Thanks for the link I will look around for the "Bag Buddies". |

FRANK Moderator Posts: 5108 Kudos: 5263 Votes: 1690 Registered: 28-Dec-2002 | Hi, When you get your current fish problem resolved, and you complete your move, you should devote more time to cleaning the bottom of the tank. Don't leave feces laying around on the bottom and throughly vacuum the gravel while doing larger more regular water changes. That is quite a body mass of fish in that tank and the high nitrate reading is the result. 40 is considered a cry for help, and 30 is really pushing it. The result of a high nitrate reading is susceptibility to disease and infections. Good luck in the move! Frank -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |
