Need Help with Oscar | |
Cichlid Keeper Big Fish Posts: 368 Kudos: 466 Votes: 304 Registered: 17-Aug-2003 | I have an oscar around 7 inches long in a 75 gallon tank all to itself and it has been doing great up until about 3 days ago when I came home from work to find it just laying in the bottom of the tank in the corner. Its gone from eating everything in sight like a normal oscar to not eating at all. Its color looks good and normal(not pale at all) gill functions seem normal and it shows no signs of any external problems that I can see. From looking at it,it looks healthy. But it continues just to lay in the bottom of the tank(not on its side) or in a cave showing no real signs of swimmming and beginning active and as I said before hasn't eaten in about 3 days. Any advice or help anyone can give me on what I need to do will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. PH-7.5 ammonia-0 temp-76 |

Have you got lots or water movement in the tank? How often are you doing water changes? Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes. |

Nitrite-0 ppm Nitrate-10 ppm I have 2 100 gallon penguin bio-wheel filters and 2 air stones 1 on each end of the tank. I do a 20% water change once a month. |

Has it always been kept by itself or is this something that just happened. Sometimes they need distractions in the tank to keep them active and going. New rocks in the tank? An undergravel filter along with the others? Frank -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |

I'm sure it was old age that took him, you can always try again with a baby or two... that way you'll have a longer time with them! -Brandon \\\\\\\"an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of the cure\\\\\\\" |
