My 43.5G tank as Ammonia: Nil, pH: 6.9, Nitrite 0 & Nitrate 20 (it comes out of the tap at 20, so not a lot to do about that). The inhabitants are 2 male endlers,
4 Platys, 7 Harlequin Rasboras, 6 sterbai cory, 3 otos, 4 Boesemani Rainbowfish M & F & 1 pencil fish. The rainbows are still very young & small now & a 4ft tank is planned for their future.

The tank has a weekly gravel vac & 50% water change. Tank is heavily planted & has pressurised C02.

Today I found one of the rasboras with a swelling under his lips, where there is internal bleeding. I was thinking an injury - maybe caused on the tank decor. Everyone is peacful & gets on - although one of the endlers makes a nuisance of himself chasing a platy - but never bothers the rasboras.

I have put the injured rasbora in a breeding net to recouperate. The picture is taken of him through the netting. You can see the darker shadow & this where I think there is internal bleeding.

Could this be something other than an injury?

I would think that it is the result of either an attack or running into something in the tank. The only danger would be if the area becomes infected. Keeping it in the net won't hurt butbe alert to fungus or bacterial infection in the area.

Thanks Bob, I've added some pimafix & melafix to the tank to protect against infection. Keeping him in the net helps me to watch him more closely.
