For almost a week he's had this...white patch.
It isn't fluffy, fuzzy, or growing any larger.
Looks, Kind of like powdered shugar on his scales (?), but not Ich like at all.
Also he's the only fish to have it...

Water parametres are all clean too...

I've posted an image though I am not too sure it is too clear to be useful

Are you sure it's velvet? He's had it for nearly a week with no changes, and no golden like rust when I observered him with a torch...

Anyone else think so before I go and medicate?

Take him to the LFS when you go to get any meds also get a full water test done just in case there is another problem that caused the ????? on the Otto

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

Lol, yeah pretty sure, the only other change to expect is a dead fish or slightly more coverage. Its a protozoa, the slime is secondary damage, and the breeding and acceleration of protozoa are dependant on a number of factors and fish typically last a few weeks under infection. Oodinuim isnt like whitespot, its reproduction isnt quite as explosive, it often exists at low level for quite a while, often exceeding QT times. A week is nothing.

I've got a general med to treat Velvet-ish illnesses will that be okay for this? It's really hard for me to find any specialist meds in Aus...

And would the full dosage be safe for my ottos? I know theyre pretty sensitive

Well I did get the water tested again today, I should add, other then a slightly high PH (pretty much an 8 there), there's nothing else wrong, ammonia and the like are at nil.

I can take him to the aquarium soon, but Im not sure they have the expertise to do any better a diagnosis

Yeah, malachite green usually does work, but you have to go easy on the doses for ottos, if the tank gets ammo or nitrite spikes the fish may be lost anyway. Not the toughest fish ottos.
