I use the same as RAST.

Before that I used Norton for years. I was not happy with Norton so I switched.

I was on Nortons more trouble than it is worth.

I use Vet. I get free 8am-6pm Mon-Fri service, I also run their Spyware, and cannot wait till they are up and running with their Firewall. One company free phone calls. Can Nortons beat that??

I am running them all actually. On Different computers. At home I use Trend which is very good. Norton on some of the computers at work and well I feel that Norton takes too much control of the computer. And I am also trying the AVG which is a free Virus scanner. It seems to be working well.

It really depends on your budget and which one you prefer. Also if you are an existing user of one you can get a discount which will also make that one look better.

Good luck.

Pay services - I have used both Norton and Trend, alot of viruses get thru them. If I had to buy one again it would be Norton, unfortunately. Trend caused problems with my hotmail and yahoo, couldn't click on an e-mail to open. Soon as I un-installed Trend, bam, everything working perfect again. I've tried AVG the free one before and it's not bad at all. I use a combination of free programs now, for anti-virus ANTIVIR.. For adware SPYBOT, and also Ad-Aware Personal SE.

For downloading, anytime you download you risk viruses. So scan the files before you even play them. WinMx is really good. Kazaa has alot of bad files and viruses, Kazaa Lite is supposed to be better than the original. I'm going to check out IMESH which I'm told is also good. I've been lucky to get no viruses thru WimMx as no download sites like that can scan their content, yet.

The main reason I was advised by people far mor qulaified than I ever hope to be, also MS are recommending it. The first time I ran it one spyware picked up 50+ nasties. I am also in a computer club and they recommonded it to all club members especially if you are using Broard Band which I am.

I have turned off the notices when some spyware is trying to gain access to my computer. You would be supprised how often it happens. One spyware company also runs its own spyware.

Keith, I think I was confused before on what you were trying to say.

Spyware is BAD, programs which remove or prevent spyware, anti-spyware programs or whatever you want to call them, however, are good.

I assume what you ment was the latter.

I'm not forigne to protecting myself from it, or removing it, nasty lil' buggars.

Norton with Spybot and Adaware. Works great, and I don't find that it's 'more trouble than it's worth'. My dad is an IT guy and that's what he uses on everything.
