So glad to hear that it's going well, had to pop in and say I hope all continues to go well now that the operation is done. Take care you ! |

I also had an eye operation 12 years ago & it was a retinal detachment. I had to do it twice, but thank God, now it's Ok. http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

Glad to hear it is OK now. At least I know what to expect for the next one. We all think we have problems when it comes to an operation. Very recently in Aust a very young boy had to have his last good eye removed because of cancer. That made me think, he is going to go through life with out sight and I am getting mine done to stop going blind. This brought me to reality extremly fast. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. Given that I have a family history of glaucoma, I'm not looking forward to needing this in later life. Most other surgical procedures I'm quite blasé about, I can even watch surgeons poking things into my body cavity and and ask to have a peek through the laparoscope, but eye surgery is a BIG exception ... gives me the shudders. Consequently I was more than a little queasy when following the link you provided to details of the trabeculectomy procedure. Take plenty of rest, Keith, and ease gradually into things. Give your eyes time to settle, then once you've done that, go back to enjoying your fish and your orchids - which will probably be doubly enjoyable once you're over the convalescence hill and able to savour them without needing constant medication! EDIT : that boy you mentioned - what you describe sounds like hereditary retinoblastoma. Very aggressive, as yet untreatable, and the only way to stop it migrating to other parts of the body is complete eye removal. Now that made me wince big time. Poor child ... given a choice between blindness and death ... |
