GREAT to see you with a Morpho peleides perched on your head! Well, Cali, I have to admit that particular picture is about 2 years old so I have aged a bit since it was taken. And although I'm retired from the Air Force, I'm not retired from working. In fact I actually retired from the Air Force in Jan. 1992, so over 15 years ago. I was 39 years old at that time. No, I wasn't a pilot, so you're safe for now. Jim |

One of the troopers in the area looks a lot like your husband, and we call him katch, it's part of his obnoxiously long, hard to spell last name. He's probably the best trooper around, and he's insane at catching people. He's got a lot of years on the job, and he mainly works the highway. I swear, he can stand on his front porch, sniff the air and tell you how fast you're going, even when the highway is 3 miles away. Very, very very good man. |

I am choosing these pics from several years ago, as I see many people posting adventures they are/have done. So here is mine; LOL, can any of you say you have been kissed by a Mermaid? LOL, well I can! There were five of us in the water, and 8 Manatees with us for 8 hours. We were in 48F water for 8 hours! I know this because the reason the pics are not the best quality. I had it set for the slowest speed, of which I never stopped recording for 8 hours. These guys where actually competing for our attention this year. I had three of them come around me so tightly, that they pulled me about 15 feet down with them. It was too cool. The babies are the ones you have to really watch out for though. As they want to play with you non-stop. And if you are not careful, they will pull you down under. And, as you don't want to use a SCUBA tank while with the manatees (bubbles scare them, as they are a sign of aggression), you only use your snorkle, and you can quickly become out of breath and no realize how far down they have pulled you to play with them. Here is the baby Manatee, about 2 years old, and already over 7 feet long. As you all should know, they breath air since they are mammels. Manatees love two things, scratching them extremely hard with your nails to help remove all the algae growth on their skin, and a good belly rub. You can't see my hand in this pic, but I am rubbing her belly. These beautiful creatures just roll over and go into a trance when you start scratching their bellies. There is always a bigger fish... |
