Most everyone here knows that as a premium memeber, your membership dues go to help support the sites cost.
Not many people know how many thousand it costs to run the site.

If you have considered signing up for a premium membership think of what the site has provided for you and consider the cost per day, and give it a go .

For those that cannot afford the few cents a day, consider some of the other ways to support the site.

~ Make sure you vote everyday!
~ Google ads are specific for us in the fish hoby.
~ If you have a blog or a website, place a link and let others know about fishprofiles.
~ Australians can order equipment, foods, tank decor, and medicine from equarium

And most importantly, Keep Active! even if you've answered a question 10 times before, remember that this is the first time the poster is asking it, and your response is the first time they've heard it, help them out.

^_^

I just became a premium member for a year!

It really doesn't cost that much for an adult.

I just wanted to say that I have been a Premium Member since day one of my membership. I have always felt that if you are going to take advantage of something, then you should be willing to help defray the costs of anything that is of a benefit to you. The knowledge base that is here is really priceless and if you were to pay for the volumes of books that would be necessary to gain this knowledge it would cost you thousands. Just my two cents worth.

now that is an idea...but goodness knows I have enough "odd" things coming off myspace...a couple buds here, exhusband there, students, exstudents, old, old, old elementary buds...yep let's add the fishprofiles banner to it...it would make it all the more merrier and crazy...

How about this one Callatya? The one I use on my own website?

Oh and if you look at my main page, copyright is acknowledged in the message at the bottom.

Small like the Equarium button up the top right there.

Like this, but stiller

Nice Cali, but its a bit too big. I have my links in a sidebar on my blog and I think that'd give all the other buttons an inferiority complex

You could always load it into PhotoShop and shrink it to 50% of original length Callatya ...

Resized the banner to fit a bit better, also a few buttons for calla. Just save and use as needed, or copy and paste the code after each image.

hi guys.
I dont mean to 'thow a spanner in the works' here, but surely if people become a premium member (as i did) it is to aid the cost of hosting? as i know thats where most of the money goes on a site as big as this?
If thats the case (it may not be, you may have really cheap hosting, but i doubt it), surely asking members to link to FP from their sites, other sites etc will up the bandwidth? if FP gets posted as a link (say to a perticular thread) on a well-known aquarium site, you'll get 300+ "guests" visiting perhaps an hour? therefor reversing the effects of the premium members' cost?

Huh?

So... you're saying it's best if no one knows about the site because none of those 300+ guests would ever consider signing up (and possibly then becoming a premium member) or clicking on any ads?

[singsong voice] Okay children, here we can see that someone didnt read the post properly. Can everyone see what they did wrong?[/singsong voice]

1. Premie memberships do help but in the history of the site they only came close to actually covering the server fees for that year. The smart among you would by now be wondering where the money comes from. Unfortunatly Adams beliefs in Pastafarianism and the Noodly Master prevents him from celebrating the festival of forumass and cannot recieve huge payments of money every year by leaving his mouse upsidedown on the moniter for the Great Mod of the Interwebs to leave a present on.

2. Not everyone is able to pay for a premium membership for any number of reasons. Some don't have the money and that's fine, others are too young and maybe their parents willing to support their childrens hoby. For whatever reason, by linking to the site they still help support us by bringing in new memebers, some of which may becomes premium.

3. Also important is the fact that there are still people out there that think it's okay to put goldfish in tanks.

Have you ever tried the "active threads"?

The colors tell you which have new posts since you last looked.

This isn't "most other forums" as its not a copy paste phpbb job. Adam hand codes it himself.
