Wow, and I thought I had it bad in the DC area.

I'm looking forward to the day that I will be owning a Prius. In the meantime, I'm grateful that my commute is less than ten minutes each way.

true Tiny, but it is very hard for individuals to change habits when the governments aren't doing anything to discourage our usage.

Our economy is so closely tied with the US, which is so closely tied to oil, that it would take a whole lot of argy bargy to get any type of serious energy reform going on here.

Yet again, it comes down to $$, and in order to save it, we have to spend it, and quite frankly, I wouldn't be willing to outlay funds on the current hybrids, I'll wait til they have worked out all the kinks thanks
Besides, its not really an answer for the type of roads we have over here. City driving, sure, but highways and long distances? It wouldn't end up being worth the outlay.

On that note though, I saw my first real live Prius the other day It was silver, and looked unusual.

I paid $2.09 then proceeded to drive a few hundred miles getting 72.6 MPG.

I'm not complaining, fact if it werent for winter heating costs (last year my electric bill was $46 a month ) I'd be more than happy for gas prices to quadruple. Then I might see a few less h^mm3rs and massive pickups with 4 inches of wax driving thru the nations capital where the closest thing they see to dirt is when they drive over a fallen flower pot in the road.

OH FOR THE LOVE OF SANITY!!!!

QUIT WHINGEING!

You are using a FINITE RESOURCE that is RUNNING OUT. Of course it's gonna cost more now it's in decline. So, ohh, diddums, it costs you more to drive to the huge supermarket rather than using local producers, or driving kids to school rather than making them get the bus or walk. Stop moaning and start life-changing. Cos if you think it's bad now, wait and see what happens when the oil runs out completely!

I pay about $2.70 - 2.90 per gallon. Not really sure what the current prices are though because due to staying home sick, I haven't really filled up my car in about two weeks.

I drive a Toyota Camry that gets about 30 MPG (highway), and I generally put about 60 miles on it each day.

yeah, many americans don't realize how good we have it as far as gas prices. of course, perusing the sunday classified section it was amusing to me that there are more pages of people selling SUV's than there are of any other car combined

it was $2.49/g here for a couple days. i've been thinking of selling our buick and getting another honda or toyota but our credit union has a lien on it as part of a consolidation loan otoh, they let us have only liability insurance on this car cause they don't really care about it, so maybe they'd let us sell it off too?

If I converted properly our current petrol prices are 3.37/g.
