Hi Friends
I got a number of a service that will come and clean your tank etc but it is $99/hour. I usually do all this myself but am recovering from surgery and am unable to do it. My mum tried to help and broke my filter so is a bit scared to touch anything again.

Anyone know of a service in Sydney that is a bit less pricey?

Thanks for your help sydney-siders...

go to your lfs and see if a a decent employee can help you out. 100 bucks an hour is a ripoff.

LFS gave me the name of the service. btw there are two guys the $99 one is the cheaper one. The other guy charges $180.

I have a problem in that I need some advice with the setup so maybe it is worth the investment. My filter won't prime and it is an ordeal each time I try and do a change. I am not good at the technical stuff.

poor old mum!

I'll ask Sin, if you like, we can toddle over one day and give you a hand, try to get it set up for you so its more self-sustaining and easier to care for.

Have you tried FishHeads? They do good work so i have heard.

you still have my mobbie number, gimme an SMS if you want us to try to get over your way we have to go out to Bexley and Kingsford next week anyway, so it shouldn;t be a problem

I hope you have a wonderful speedy recovery and be nice to poor old mum, i'm sure she meant well!

(BTW, do you still have the 3' light for sale?)

Yup, we're thinking we can wrangle something for next week so if you can hold out that long we're happy to swing by & sort it out for you the best we can

Urm, prolly best to sort out time/day & whatnot through Calla - I'm on & off-line rather randomly at the moment

Hope you're recovering well,
*hugs*

Thanks Callatya and Sin, that would be awesome if you could do a mayday call next week.

Poor mum, we were both in a bit of a state when the filter was leaking all over the floor. Mum was due to fly to Europe in a matter of hours and I was having trouble describing what to attach to what.

The standby filter started to leak the next day and a week later I lost my 6 inch male texas. I didn't tell my mum the little boy fish had died even though she kept asking about all the fish in her emails. Poor mum, had a great time in Europe though.

That is so kind sumthin' fishy. Callatya and Sin are gonna do a mercy dash early next week. I'm not back to driving post surgery so haven't been able to get to a fish shop to get a new filter. I think they are going to help me organise an alternative to my current filtration that is not managable.

No joke, you should investigate doing a mobile service. Target Dr/dentist surgery's etc. It sounds lucrative. Like a mowing service I guess. Get a certain number of people on the books and visit on a rota.

Everyone has been just so kind. Thank you all so much.
I have gone from sad and overwhelmed by my tank to feelin' positive about getting it up and running.

I had a mate who did this and he didn't charge nowhere near that much. He was charging about 25 - 30 bucks I think it was.

I was also looking at starting up my own business with this but got a full time job just before I was going to apply for ABN and the rest of the things I would have had to do. So if I ever get bored I would still have something to go back on if worst comes to worst.
