As far as I know the contest is on hold for while, maybe becoming a yearly event. I sure the Boss Babel is just around the corner and will give an update on the situation. Nice to see you back Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |

[serious voice] Yes there will hopefully be another contest in 2005. I doubt there is enough support for even a quarterly contest so I'll give biyearly another shot, then it's to yearly .... If I'm around for that long . [/serious voice] Bensaf hope your intentions of having me on the corner were entirely innocent . ^_^ It only hurts when I breathe" |

What about all those holidays, short hours, etc. I have heard it all before teaching is a 24hr 7days a week all year job. If you are not working like that you have a easy teaching job. Several years ago a Melbourne Teaching Uni found out that from commencement of Teacher training to completion of their teaching years was 3/4 of one year. How did I ever last 26years Sorry to side track. Can not wait to admire your next entry. Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. Here in Canada, people are required to complete a BA in something, could be anthropology, could be psychology, whatever, which takes 4 years, and then are required to take the B.ED, Bachelor of Education, which is an addition 1.5 years, making a total of at least 5 and a half years before even being allowed to be a "teachers aide" or "substitute". I agree with you Keith, both I and my partner Steve have considered pursuing teaching jobs because it is an easy job and you get summers off. And to think that I once considered teaching so that I'd have summers off for field work, or cruising. Darn, here goes another dream. What I meant is, that is how long they last in the Teaching Profession less that one year. I am not sure what qualifications they come out with these days. I can assure you one thing they dont come out with is life experiences all they know is school and more school. I could rave for hours about this. I had to complete my 5 year apprentceship then 5 more years in the trade before I could even apply to become a trade teacher. After being accepted you started at a school straight away and attended a teacher training college two days a week for two years. After all that, they keep send you back to a teaching college or a uni to upgrade your qualifications. Falstaf Fish Addict Posts: 785 Kudos: 1211 Votes: 196 Registered: 12-Feb-2004 | sorry to inform you, but when students are on summer vacations we all have to take different classes to upgrade our credentials, then when you think you are done and look foward to a week off, you have to applay extraordinary exams, or regularisation classes for those students that flunk your subject. You have to workon next semester programs and do all the calendar for each of your subjects, a day by day guide to the course (i teach 8 groups, so you can imagine!). Now the latest news is that all teacher are going to have to do a MBA in order to be able to teach BA courses. So... there goes the dream we all once had Still is very rewarding and fun to do it! |

Many know my wife as well and will often stop and talk to her as well. The self satisfaction and rewards never stop. It is all worth the hard work. The more you enjoy it the easer it becomes.
