Anybody else in here use glass cups in their tanks?
Over the last week i've put two in mine and the fish appear to love them. One of my parrot cichlids has "claimed" a wide mouth mason and won't let anybody else near it.
They really do make the tank look good too!

Hi,
For years folks have been using glass containers of one
sort (cups, glasses, mason jars) or another (glass chimneys)
for fish that are territorial or that need to sense
the protection that the glass walls offer (Ghost, Knife
fish for instance).

I dont think I have ever seen glass cups etc used in tanks.

As long as it works for you and is inhabitants is the most important thing.

In comparison to the totally opposite by placing objects into a tank because the owner likes the look of it and has no benifical effect for the tank inhabitants or the overall aquascape.

Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do.

Can you please post a picture of your glass cups?. I've never heared anyone use them, but if they're Ok for you, that's fine. I've seen ceramic & pottery in tanks, but not glass.

I have champagne glasses in one of my 10 gallons and they look really nice. (I'll try and get a picture tonight). My betta Paul lived in that tank before I moved him and he liked to hang out inside them, but not being the brightest betta around would forget he was inside and try to swim through the glass.

ould forget he was inside and try to swim through the glass.

That's what I'm afraid of when we're speaking of clear glass. I've had new fish get cought inside the reactor for my CO2, and every time I acclimate fish they always stress themselves out trying to swim thru the plastic....

Ive used coffee cups in some of my fry tanks when i was desperate for some hiding places. They are pretty cheap, food safe, and if you can get solid colors dont look too bad.

when i first started my saga as an aquariast, i bought a 10 gallon tank and made my first mistake by stocking it with about 5 goldfish.....anyways i bought some frappuccinos from a grocery store. i put one of the bottles in there, but a couple went in and couldn't find their way out and they died

anyways, thats my history with using bottles. im starting a new 20 gallon and i might put in a bottle or possibly a clay pot

I have seen a tank with a blue glass vase set on its side in a tank. It looked nice in the tank, added color, and gave the fish a sense of having a safe cave.
