Here is the link since i cant post pictures: http://www.bbpix.com/pix/Tank setup 027.jpg

(you cant make it a link, so you have to copy and paste it)

That is mainly what it looks like now, ecept it has a background (it really does work wonders in making the tank look good) and the gravel is brown instead of white.

All of the decorations are in the same place, and there is a filter intake on the left side, and a heater on the right side. Also, there are 4 lava rocks in there.

What can I do to make this look great?

Hi,
Interesting picture...
IMO, you give a person three focal points and that
can be distracting. The white gravel grabs the eye
at the same time the contrasting red lava rocks
pull you to the right, and on the way, the driftwood
breaks the trip. Only when you have placed the
driftwood and lava rocks in perspective, do the
plants on the left "show up" Personally, I'd build
a center piece of something, remove the other distraction,
and smooth things out with more greenery. I don't think
the tank is big enough to hold two center pieces.

Frank
PS, I hope that tank is really well braced on the outside
ends. It looks like there is an inch or so overhang and
that could cause stress cracks and leaks over time.

Thanks, the gravel is brown, not white, i changed it a while ago.

Also, we just built a stand today for the fishtank, so it doesnt have any more overhang.

Having the edges hanging off doesnt give it support, which means its most likely to either crack or leak at that area in the future.

Having brown gravel or sand, I'd stick with some lighter rocks. Brown and red IMO doesnt look right. Try lace rock or bowl lace rock.

Ok, this is what the tank looks like right now:

http://www.bbpix.com/pix/houseflood 045.jpg

(once again, you need to copy and paste the links.. sorry )

Anyways, I have a bunch of smaller brown rocks (varying from 2" - 4" ) and I was thinking i could do something with those in my tank, but im hoping my fish dont get stuck in them.

Any ideas??

My suggestion is the red rocks got to go! They are too bright and destracting for that tank. If you have some not so bright rocks you could put in there that would work. I notice you have loaches, you could maybe make some caves for them too hide in. And if it where my tank i would put more plants along the back to make some what of a plated back ground. Also gives good cover for fish when they feel insicure.

i agree with that too. the red rocks take all the attention. they're stealing the show.
i think volcanic rocks are most suitable, but they're hard to drill. maybe you can go for a combination some dark rocks (volcanic rock is wonderful for that) and pots that will be used by the loaches. or maybe try to glue some of the rocks together to synthesize caves.
add some plants on or around the rocks, to make them look less sterile.
also maybe spread the filament grass (if i recognize it correctly) so it will spread faster and take a larger area in the end.

i would like to have a go at this when i get my second tank:

i cant find the link i was looking for so i'll just go from memory! you could build slate caves, or 'levels'. Basically what you do is buy a load of slate, one big piece to make a roof, lots of little bits to pile up to make the sides, you can then glue gravel to the top / plant plants or leave it plain slate. it gives the tank another level, or dimension, i hope you get what im talking about, its not coming out to clearly lol

Hmmm should find that link
