I purchased a rock piece from my local fish store and i have cleaned it and soaked it in water for a couple days, im wondering how long i should soak it before i add it to my 29 gallon? since its from a fish store i hope that its treated and everything, but on the safe side, how long should i let it sit?

You may want to bake it to make sure there's nothing living on it, or boil it if you can fit it in a pot...

Try pouring some vinegar over it to see if it reacts with it. If it does, it'll fizz/bubble up, and then you know it isn't inert, and it'll leach into the tank (which is bad)... you'll want to toss it out if it does that

Other than that, I don't really think you need to soak it for an extended period of time, unless it's dirty or something. Give it a good scrub down, let it soak for a day at the most (IMO), and toss it in the tank... should be good

Hi,
Cleaning and testing rocks are a good idea and should
always be done before placing the rock(s) in a tank.

One thing to remember is that most fish stores have
"guests"... Escapees from their live food
section, crickets, etc. These find a home behind counters
displays and among rocks etc. Frequently the store managers
will have an exterminator in and they spray overnight for
these pests. The exterminators are not always careful and
will spray the rocks and all sorts of other things with
what is sometimes a spray that has oil in it.
Always clean/boil etc everything before placing it in a
tank. You never know what has gotten on the surface.

You have done what many fail to do that is take all the necessary steps first to make sure it is safe to use. Frank makes a good point re
