ok, finally done, all the fish are moved, and the tank is finished...all fake ugly plants with the exception of some java moss. 8 tiger barbs,6 corys,a bn pleco, and a south american cat. all seem happy, tank is clean and balanced.

clicky here...its not as bad as you think...

Sorry, forgot to mention, its 29 gallons, so small...hopefully in a year by the time the pleco and all the others get big, i can get a bigger one, everyone tells me its too small when the fish are full grown.

Well, i think that the Pleco will be your only problem, as the Barbs, Corydoras & BN will be fine.

Just keep up with the water changes & cleaning & they'll be fine.

Quite nice actually.

Hey, if you can aquascape with plastics you can scape with anything .

As a side note, water changes are important, not only to remove the wastes, but I remember reading somewhere (dont remember the exact thread ) that the growth hormone released by a fish while growing tends to accumulate in the water and if it's not changed it triggers slower growth in the fish.

yes, i brought a thread up in water quality and everyone seemed in agreement that steady 20% water changes a week to start would be good, then just moniter water quality closely over the next few weeks and adjust accordingly.

Wow, for fake plants, that looks really great. I love the small cave.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

It looks really nice. Eventually you may choose to use real plants, and that can be fun. I used plastics at first, when I added live plants I kept one plastic for the red colour that is hard to get in a low-light tank.
The barbs will love all those plants for swimming in, they'll take great joy in finding little bits of food and algae growing in there!
The pleco though will outgrow it. I'd suggest getting a couple of ottos or three then as they also devour algae and have the benefit of staying small. They'll love the caves!

hi, your tank looks really nice, i think the fish will be happy there! The fake plants look fine, i have real plants but have trouble with the maintenance involved, cutting and prunign etc. Anyone know where i can get some good info about how to prune plants. Mine quite often die when i cut them back. I know someone has it in their log, but I can't access logs because i am not a premium member yet, sniff sniff...

Hey Connie welcome to the FP family.

Have a look in the [link=planted forum]http://www.fishprofiles.com/interactive/forums/forum.asp?id=11" style="COLOR: #EB4288[/link] for tips specifically about plants, I know there are a number of threads in there about trimming plants. You can also try a [link=search]http://www.fishprofiles.com/interactive/forums/search.asp" style="COLOR: #EB4288[/link].

Logbooks are available to all, it's a matter of if they've got the link active and available to everyone :%).
