major help needed | |
fishyhelper288 Fish Guru Posts: 2161 Kudos: 1951 Votes: 137 Registered: 29-Feb-2004 | ok, i have alwats had trouble setting up a good tank, it either looks un-natural, or like the bottom of a lake i want a good tank, somthing i can be proud of, somthing that will show off my fish with out a slight orange tint, (i have a silver mickey mouse platty) i have plattys, guppys, WCMM, johney darters, a sword, a male and female betta and soon a rainbow shark that will eventualy be going into the 30 gallon, then a 90 i may decde later who goes into a 20gallon or 1 of the 2 10 gallons i have, (the other 10, will be for fry) i have sand from outside, and i finaly cleaned it enough, so it isnt firm on the bottom, and so when ever it is moved a clowd doesnt apper, i have lots of fake plants, 4 species of live, drift wood, and i dont know if i should go back to gravel, but i want a very light substrait and i want complete natural maybe pictures? instructions, i may be getting a camers soon, so i maybe could show u how it looks |

FRANK Moderator Posts: 5108 Kudos: 5263 Votes: 1690 Registered: 28-Dec-2002 | Hi, You can get aquarium gravel in practically every color of the rainbow, including various shades of brown and even jet black. Additionally, it comes in various grades (sizes). If you truly want sand, then that also comes in various shades of brown from light tan to dark brown and even white. Sand poses various problems including that it is easily lifted into the water currents by fish and with water changes. This can get sucked into the filter and ruin the pumps. Sand can pack tight and cause places of anerobic bacteria. Burrowing snails, eels, some loaches, and catfish can resolve most of this problem. Folks use aquarium gravel, or sand, for planted tanks and ornamental tanks. Shop around and make a decision. Then you can look at the elements in the tank and try and recreate it. You may look at the photo of the set up and realise that you have the same substrate and plants but they have put the gravel in different levels and placed the plants differently. Or their rocks are stacked to make caves that you can see through or whatever. Give it a go... I am sure you will have a kick a@@ tank in no time at all! ~~~ My fish blow kisses at me all day long ~~~ |

fishyhelper288 Fish Guru Posts: 2161 Kudos: 1951 Votes: 137 Registered: 29-Feb-2004 | meg, actualy thats the suprizing part, i went to breed them and they just swam around like little buddys, never could breed them when i wanted to, but there is no aggression at all, but i removed him, because that side of the tank is a little overstocked, and he looked cramped, so i gave him his old home back, and his fins seem to becoming fuller, and NOW hes building a bubblenest, but hes gunna have to wait till they get the 30, to see if he want to be buddys again, if he doesnt, thats not a problem, im starting up my betta shelf again, so he can look at the other pretty fishys and if i can get the camers a sure will pm u i should be getting the pamphlit from my uncle any day now, my mom is going to check the mail on tuesday, then i dont know how long it will take if i sent it out the next day |
