Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/interactive/forums/profile.asp?userid=6741[/link] for my tank info Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. Bob Wesolowski Mega Fish Posts: 1379 Kudos: 1462 Registered: 14-Oct-2004 | I think you need to define a focal point in the tank. A spot that the eye is drawn to... a specimen plant or hardscape, like driftwood or rock arrangement. The focal point is never dead center in your tank. "Dutch" style tanks use the "magic" point as the focal point. It is 2/5s from the side and 2/5s from the back wall. The plants should build toward that point and not hide it. But I would add some sort of focal point and a few random stones throughout the tank. When it all comes down to it, its just personal preference, any way. Good luck. Bob Wesolowski Mega Fish Posts: 1379 Kudos: 1462 Registered: 14-Oct-2004 | "Full of holes..." I assume that means the leaves have holes in them. The questions then are: o What plants? o What fish do you have? o What are your water parameters including lights and lighting duration? __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |

LITTLE_FISH ***** Little Fish ***** Master of Something Posts: 7303 Kudos: 1997 Votes: 670 Registered: 20-May-2005 | fishyhelper288, Usually holes are a sign of a lack of potassium. DO you use fertilizers in your tank, if so which and how often? Otherwise, show us a pic of the rock tank, I might just get inspired by it. And just in case you care, Here is my 20 Long. Ingo |

Im glad you pulled the fake ones, I was going to suggest that. First of all, i dont know what you have done since, but those large swords should go back further. They seem out of place near the front. Can you post a pic of what youve done so far? Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |

Babelfish Administrator Small Fry with Ketchup Posts: 6833 Kudos: 8324 Votes: 1570 Registered: 17-Apr-2003 | Yes you can make "homemade" ferts, but you'll still need to search for the powders to mix it up. There are a number of places online that you can order the dry powders for mixing your own. It's highly reccomended that you only add what the plants actually need rather than blanket dosing the tank which is what happens when you use premixed powders. I use a mix of potassium nitrate and epsom salts in my tanks to make up for deficencies in my particular water supply, each persons is different though . Dig around in the planted forum (hee hee ) for info about ferts, and make a seperate post there if you cant find what you're looking for . ^_^ |
