Got some hints to help us id this fish? An electric catfish (Malapteruridae) is obviously out of the question. Many catfish of Mochokidae are known as squeakers, but I've never heard of any of them with "electric" in their name. Featherfin catfish will outgrow your tank. They get about 8". -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |

I am unaware of a Synodontis commonly called leopard (assuming it is actually a squeaker like the other common name suggests). There are Corydoras species that are called leopard corys (C. leopardus, trilineatus, julii), and a couple plecs with leopard in their name. Not sure about a Syno. This is becoming rather difficult. Quite possibly either Synodontis nigriventris (Upside down catfish) or Synodontis nigrita (Lace catfish) might also be called leopard catfish. Synodontis ocellifer and similar types I'd peg as someting they'd call leopard catfish... None of these I would describe as "electric". Scientific name would be so helpful right now. Or a picture. Although I'm terrible with Synos so if it is a Syno I might not even be able to tell you without confirmation what it is. If it's Corydoras trilineatus though, that's nothing near a squeaker. But it is known as leopard catfish, or cory, though, so that's a possibility. They are schooling and peaceful. Very good fish. If you found this other common name by a site online, perhaps give the link, please? -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |

If not go back and ask them for the correct name not the common shop name. I know one store that sells Java Ferns as Cryptocoryne. When I pointed it out his response was so what its green and it grows. He sold me some shrimp that turned out to be Macrobrachium. So if you want the info you have to find out yourself. mts.gif" border="0"> I vote do you? My Tanks at Photobucket |

S. schoutedeni might be more aggressive of a fish, though. Neither fish will be okay in a 29 gallon permanently, and may both be too pushy or even aggressive for an average community tank. -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |
