Not likely that I'll be able to find them but I think I've got BBA and was thinking of adding some SAE to the 30 gallon I have @work. Current stock is:
4 diamond tetras
6 gold barbs
MTS

Filtration is an ecco 2234, AC 500 and a AC 201 powerhead. Sand substrate, lightly planted.

Thoughs or concerns from those that have kept SAE?

Do not ever put a red-tail shark or a rainbow shark in there. It will chase the SAE's CONSTANTLY. They absolutely love meaty foods...especially live mosquito larvae and frozen bloodworms. Hey, a fish cant live on algae all the time..right?

I had 5, but now I am down to 1. They have been dying off 1 by 1. (getting old) And I haven't since been able to find them anywhere. The lfs that I got them from before got them by mistake and had them labeled as something else....in a danio tank for $1.99.... hehe

Forgot to mention that they are a very fast fish, so some of your other fish might get spooked by their "flying" around.

Other than that, they are very well tempered.

I must be doing it wrong again I have had the RTS and the SAE in the same tank for at least two years now and never a problem.

Once the SAE get older and larger they get lazy and prefer other foods rather than the algae for some reason.

They are larrikins, real 'boys' of the tank. they just play and chase all day. FANTASTIC FISH, can't recommend them enough

They are boistorous, so tight lids and plenty of places for the other fish to escape to.

I didn't have algae, but i did notice a preference for meats over veggies as they grew up

For animals, the entire universe has been neatly divided into things to (a) mate with, (b) eat, (c) run away from, and (d) rocks. - Terry Pratchett

I'd look online at places like aquabid for people who raise SAEs and get them shipped to you if possible. I bought a bunch of SAEs from Arizona Aquatic Gardens, and they all arrived in great health, but they were raised on flake food, and that's pretty much all they'll eat, even as 2 inch juveniles. If you can find someone who raises them on veggies and algae, they are much more likely to continue to eat those things.
They are very active, and if you get three or more they will school more tightly than any tetra you've ever seen.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...
