Sturisoma With Eggs!! | |
jase101 Big Fish Posts: 345 Kudos: 273 Votes: 1 Registered: 06-Jul-2004 | very very excited - i have just found my sturisoma panamense male guarding and fanning about 40 eggs on the leaf of a big amazon sword!! i doubt the fry will make it unless they're very quick - but having kept them for 10 years and never bred them, i'm so happy! |

jase101 Big Fish Posts: 345 Kudos: 273 Votes: 1 Registered: 06-Jul-2004 | thanks, frank - i had seen that article a while back. it's taken me ages to get a male to breeding age, for some reason my females do really well, but a) finding a male and then b) getting him to last has been problematic. the eggs are just breaking now, little tails sticking out. unfortunately, they are in a tank with angels and tetras, so i doubt the bubs will make it. i have the lights off today to give them the cover of semi-darkness as they hatch. this tank is very stable, keith, and the only change i've made recently is adding peas to their diet - every day they get about 15 or so shelled peas. so that may have been the trigger, but i think it's more about my male coming of age. |
