very very excited - i have just found my sturisoma panamense male guarding and fanning about 40 eggs on the leaf of a big amazon sword!! i doubt the fry will make it unless they're very quick - but having kept them for 10 years and never bred them, i'm so happy!

What ever you are doing it must be the correct thing.
I hope you are keeping a very detailed report on all water/feeding conditions etc.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

thanks, frank - i had seen that article a while back. it's taken me ages to get a male to breeding age, for some reason my females do really well, but a) finding a male and then b) getting him to last has been problematic. the eggs are just breaking now, little tails sticking out. unfortunately, they are in a tank with angels and tetras, so i doubt the bubs will make it. i have the lights off today to give them the cover of semi-darkness as they hatch.

this tank is very stable, keith, and the only change i've made recently is adding peas to their diet - every day they get about 15 or so shelled peas. so that may have been the trigger, but i think it's more about my male coming of age.
