hey just thought id share my joy. i just went and bought 2 SAE's from a fish shop about 15 miles away from my home. i was worried they would be shocked for the long trip home, but i spent more time to acclimate them, and they didnt show any signs of stress, and went straight to some algae

the price is good too, small ones are 2.99 US dollar, and bigger are 3.99. i enjoy watching them eat algae and try to clean the glass too they are so cute all i need to do now is to trade in my common pleco and maybe get 1 more SAE or 2 ottos

I recently bought 9 of them through an online fish supplier, and all 9 of them traveled through the mail just fine. They are tough little buggers.
They really are fun to watch. How big is your tank? If you do get rid of your pleco, get at least one more if not more, as they are incredibly schooly fishes and will follow each other everywhere.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

SAEs are great fish. They are one of the very few Cyprinids I don't find extremely boring.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

my tank is only 29, so if i get more then i will start getting into the over stocking problems since i already have 4 angels, 1 clown pleco, 1 common pleco, and now 2 SAE, so maybe trade the common pleco for ottos?? how many? 3? but ottos are so fragile, i hate it when they just die the next day, no luck with them.

In a twenty nine, one can only, at most, keep a pair of angels.

SAE and Angels do not go together, the reason being the SAEs will actually clean the natural slime off them and kill them, it took a long time to find this out. Another thing about them is as they get older and larger they can actually become lazy and will prefer fish food rather than their natural algae.
You can see by My Profile I have them in both tanks and at the moment I am on the lok out for a small one to go into the Betta tank a take the existing one out and place him into the 5ft tank.
They are fantastic at cleaning algae
Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

I agree that SAEs tend to get "lazy" as they grow bigger. They'll go for the fish food and show less interest in algae. But I've never seen them sucking on the Angels. Will watch closely for any sign of trouble...
