i really liked this little guy,

but now he's dead

i don't know why but i am realyl upset about this.
post mortem veiwing has told be that his skin is damaged on one side..

can baby bns be the target of bullying?
my guess is that the SD's in the tank thought he was food and had a nip at him while he was in the back of the tank. otherwise i can't see any other reason for the death. i did do a 30% water change yesterday but he seems ok after that.

the biggest Sd in the tank is probably 3-3.5 inches long.
i guess maybe he was to big and through my very small baby bn was food..

sigh.

It can be that your Silver Dollar taught it was food. You can get another BN, more bigger than the one you had & hopefully he'll be fine. Don't add small fish with your Silver Dollars, as they finish as lunch.

It may of been just a bad batch of bn's that were at the lfs. I dont know that a SD would try and munch on a live BN. Chances are it died or was close to it and they had a peck.
Make sure you have lots of hidey holes and try another one from a different shop. Double check your water with testkits first.

I thought Silver Dollars were primarily vegetarian. And consequently impossible to keep with the majority of aquarium plants. Never heard of a Silver Dollar trying to eat a Bristlenose Plec before. Anyway, wouldn't the BN's spiny armour afford some protection from predation?

How big was the BN to start off with? Is it possible he got chased off while eating and inflicted an injury from a rock or some other object. Another thing could the BN have been wedged between rocks if he was chased or scared off?
