The Mutant Goldfish Enthusiast Posts: 191 Kudos: 31 Votes: 8 Registered: 23-Apr-2002 | The parameters for what qualifies as your "favorite cichlid" is all up to you. Write down (linking is optional) on here what your favorite specie is. With that in mind: what's your favorite cichlid? Mine is the Firemouth Cichlid. mnventurer Hobbyist Posts: 66 Kudos: 31 Votes: 34 Registered: 10-Jun-2008 | I picked up two Bolvian Rams which I like very much. I've only had my tank for about four months and they're my first Cichlids. At first I had my eyes on some German Blue Rams but they weren't as active as the Bolivians. They were more like pretty statues. http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/531.htm Saint Paul, Minnesota USA 20g Freshwater Started June 10th 2008 -> Tank Info In Profile <- |

I'm actually considering adding one to my 10 gal. setup. --- Born in radioactive waters, the Mutant Goldfish swims... Check out my profile to see my tank setup(s)! |

Dovi would probably me my fav that I have never had the opportunity of owning or seeing in person. RD is my fav that I have actually owned. I'm actually considering adding one to my 10 gal. setup. They're very well mannered. They even seem gentle when nibbling my otos that get too close to their eggs. I wish they'd be more aggressive towards the punk Danios. They mostly ignore them. Guess the don't want to stoop to their level. The Danios are in for a big surprise though. I setup a 10g tank to keep them to give the Ram babies some time to grow up. I can't wait to have my 20g filled up with Rams! Edit: The surprise was mine. I couldn't even catch the smaller Leopard Danios. Used my whole lunch break Edit: I enlisted my girlfriend who caught 'em faster than I could. I used a small net to scare the Danios from hiding by the Rams and she used the larger net to grab the speedy Danios. The Rams actually helped us by chasing the Danios away from the nest which ran them into our nets. /:' Saint Paul, Minnesota USA 20g Freshwater Started June 10th 2008 -> Tank Info In Profile <- |

ScottF Fish Addict Addiction Hurts!! Posts: 542 Kudos: 330 Votes: 355 Registered: 28-May-2007 | I am with mnventurer, I love my two Bolivians. They are quite active, and beautiful fish. I have known for months that I would have these beauties. I just had to wait until I had my 55g up and going. As for a second fave, I really like the Yellow Labs. it would be awesome to have a set up with those some day. Vivid, striking fish. |

Too bad you don't live closer I'm going to have to find new homes for about 50 Bolivian Rams. They're such nice fish... Out of the cichlids i have kept, im gonna have to go with my nicaraguan cichlid, Hypsophrys nicaraguensis. you just cant beat its colors or its personality. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=68 Out of the cichlids i havent yet kept, though, i would have to choose geophagus altifrons http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=430 |
