I'm new to this hobby & my 1st 155 litre tank is entering it's 2nd week. I have 3 gourami (1 blue, 1 pearl & 1 gold). The gold one is peaceful. The other two nip at each other in passing, but spend a lot of time chasing, nipping & generally picking on the gold one. The shop will buy all 3 gouramis back from me, as I'd prefer to have only peaceful, non aggressive fish in what will eventually become a community tank. I was wondering if I should keep the gold, as it seems peaceful - but will it be happy as the only gourami in the tank - does it need to be with others of it's own kind? Also, will it grow too big for my tank. I read that it could grow to 10cm, which seems a bit large? Cheers TW |

If u are going to have females then u should only choose one spices as the tank is not big anuf to acomadate more. If i was u i would choose one type and get maby 2-3 of the same sort. |

I have a large school of Opaline (blueish) Gourami all males and not a problem. Yes the odd one chases but nothing to worry about. They also like plenty of top water plant cover like floating water sprite. You can see them nipping at the fine water roots all the time. This plant reproduces its self extremly fast and is a good plant to have for them.
