FRANK Moderator Posts: 5108 Kudos: 5263 Votes: 1690 Registered: 28-Dec-2002 | Hi Kelly, An interesting sign...."Survivors will be shot again." Are you sure you are not from out here... "Out west some where." instead of back east? It will be nice to see the tank settle down to a theme. It kinda looks like you took all of the ornaments from the two tanks along with the fish and put them in as well. Great start Frank -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |

There won't be a background cover either. Since the plecs and pims uproot EVERYTHING, the only live plants will be the anubias. (which they have promptly uprooted the one near the center and managed to entangle in the rocks behind the wood. The rocks are the small highlights to the tank. They are very interesting and work well as weights for the artificial plants. We have various caves from the previous tanks, only because we have so many bottom feeders that need cover. Funny thing is, the fish are picky about what they want to have as their own cave. We thought for sure that the sailfin plec would take the biggest cave, but no. One of the catfish took it. We may rearrange what's there but for the most part that's it. TTFN --->Ta-Ta-For-Now Kelly ;o} |

Use black cotton thread, wrap it well and most fish cant get it to budge! Should work with anubias as well, just tie it on. Maybe do one cave at a time, that way they can get used to it. One of our tanks is nothing but java fern and some decor we had laying around. The java ferns pretty much taken over. Spotted a baby BN in the tank this morning and every now and then we see a tetra. ^_^ |

Kellyjhw Big Fish My bubble... Posts: 405 Kudos: 217 Votes: 471 Registered: 22-Nov-2008 | Thanks Babel! I've tried the Java Fern just for it to die before it could root. Also the catfish and plecs picked at the few that I had left. The surprise is the anubias are the ONLY plant that they haven't eaten. Even the Java moss couldn't stand up to those fish! Thanks DaMossMan! I have to run that pass the hubby. He really likes it the way it is and I'm just tired of fighting with everyone over it. We pretty much nixed the lighting, since the only plants are the anubias. We did keep the 2 white LED strips. We used a suction cup on each side near the back corners to hang them. It lights the tank enough for all of the fish to be comfortable and they are all ways out and about. We can also see quite well into the tank and watch all the activity. The minute the room light is turned on the bottom fish take off for their caves. Hey Frank, The sign was a fathers day gift my girls came across a few years back. The whole family loves that tin. We've had visitors ask if they could buy it off of him. TTFN --->Ta-Ta-For-Now Kelly ;o} |
