I finally pulled the plants out of my 12 gallon tank... it has Onyx plant sand, but the plants weren't looking so hot, so I decided to go fake. The entire background of the tank is java moss on plastic canvas, so it's not like I'm taking all the plant life out.



The occupants currently consist of two male guppies and four small female bettas. Both guppies have bright orange coloring, there's a red female, one copper/black, one pale yellow/green and the newest addition is a white with touches of red in her fins.

Against the gray/black sand, there are colored glass rocks, a nice piece of driftwood (an attemptto hide the equipment) and pastel plastic plants. It's totally different from all of my other tanks and quite fun. It's even got a color changing lighted crystal decoration. Add in some blue glass candle holders/vases and voila... a colorful, silly tank. Hey, gotta do SOMEthing to keep up with the betta girls' antics, right?

It's definitely not going to win any prizes for aquascaping, but I'll be messing with it in the near future to get the look pulled together more... *shrugs*

Edit: Sorry for the odd angle on the picture... the tank is in the corner and a bit hard to get a picture of.

At least it is colourful, but is it as colourful as the Guppies?

I think that's fantastic. I've been thinking about doing a novelty aquascape with all the silly decorations you find in the lfs but would never put in the hevily planted biotope that so many of us strive for. I think the blue glass is lovely against the sand.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...
