If you have a choice between an UGF and any other filter for a planted tank, choose any other filter. The UGF will be too restrictive for your landscaping. __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |

I have always used UGF and never a problem certainly not with aquascaping. It is a matter of personal choice. If you already have one in the tank, I would not tear it apart to remove it. Conversly, I would not tear a tank apart to install one either. This is a picture of my tank that has had a UGF for over 12 years. I perform regular maintenance on the tank, including "deep" cleaning of the open areas with a Python brand syphon. The picture shows a healthy planted tank with a well maintained UGF system... I love it, I would not have a tank with out one.
