How long do you feel that it will take to seed a new AC500 filter if I add it to an existing tank? The tank currently has two ilters providing bio and mechanical filtration for a number of months.

Hi,
Personally, I'd give it a couple of weeks.
Practically speaking its probably just a few days.

2 weeks is the accepted aging process for seeding new media.

Interesting replies. In general, the concensus is two weeks but the longer the better...

Filter is on its second week and I will let it go for three weeks as it will be secondary filtration for the tank.
