Hi again,

I was just wondering if there was a way to DIY a reflector for the tank, as i think my stantard light strip is not doing as well. I think a reflector will use most of that un used and wasted light. My lfs dosent have 2 bulb fixtures, and if they did, it would be over 100 dollars, as the only brand i know of carrying +2 bulb fixtures are coralife. Most of the googles i have searched say the DIY reflectors on bikes and such.....Thanx again!

yes they make a reflector for the standard single bulb fixture, just not for 24" light. I seen them I have call the manufacturer, they say they are making one. As far a coralife being the only one making dual bulb fixtures, I would suggest you look on the Internet, just to see whats out there. Look a petsoultions.com their site is easy to figure out. Just go to lighting. They have 3 bulb fixtures that look like your standard single bulb. On ebay you can find odyssea light that are 4 straight pin light fixtures that put out 130 watts of light for under 100 before shipping.

I have seen a reflector DIY kit that expanded to the length and width, but I not sure if it works. in the mean time use tin foil just be careful of the electrical, that the light don't get to hot and try and keep it as smooth as possible.

Hi,
Another place to look is drsfostersmith.com. They too
have a large selection of hoods, kits, and bulbs.

Sometimes, if you are dealing with just a white painted
metal shield behind the light, you can add a piece of
aluminum foil, shiny side toward the light, and increase
the light that way.

BTW, some bulbs can be bought that actually have their
own reflector built in to direct the light downward into
the tank. They are, of course, more expensive.

You're correct. Many times the most common abbreviations will have little lines above and below it. Just put your mouse cursor on it, and it's full meaning will pop up. Practice on these:

If you roll the pointer over an abreviation it will tell you what it might mean. Provided the poster typed the abbreviation in all caps without errors. You'll see little lines over and under abbreviations that have an explanation.
