So im priming this filter for a new tank setup

so when i put the lever to start position it starts fillng.... it fills right up and the output hose fills too... then when i plug in the filter nothing happens...the water just stops... i can feel the filter humming though when its on.. is there another lever or anything i should be pushing

thanks

Hi,
I suspect that you have an air lock... Air trapped in
the impeller section. You might try filling the canister
with water with a glass or something to the rim, and then
sealing it, and then, lifting the lever.

Also check that you have put the hoses on the correct way(ie the hose out of the tank on the intake of the filter and the one into the tank on the outlet of the filter). If these are on the wrong way the water may flow through but will not work when turned on. This is not to say that there is not an airlock though so try filling the canester too.

i had this same frustrating problem with mine.

last time i started it up i waited for the filter to fill then i pumped it a few times to get any trapped air out and to push the water throught the outlet and then plugged it in. that seemed to work fine.

however if all else fails (and im dont know how good this is for your filter but ive done it a few times without a problem) plug it in after doing the above and then while its running pump the handle 1 or 2 more times and this gets it running.

With my Eheim Pro11 I fill the canister first clip the top on and connect up. I pump the primer pump a few times until the water is coming out of the spray bar then I turn it on it never misses to start up.

Just a suggestion pull it appart again and check to see if the impellar is working properly and is spinning free.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
