Hello

I'm wondering if anyone has used one of these & if they really work.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Cheers

Hi,
I've never bothered with one. The ones I saw were
powered by several "C" or "D" flashlight batteries
and they (the batteries)did not last all that long.
These things are also called "Mini Vacuums" and are
generally used in small tanks. Most use the Python
brand siphon or something similar that way you change
the water at the same time you vacuum the detritus.

I've never used one personally, but have heard the same things as frank, you might as well freshen the water and get rid of the poo instead of try and filter it. It seems that the water itself would still be contaminated, if not worsened by dredging up the sludge without removing it, just dispersing it back into the tank. You remove the source of the problem, but still have dirty water. Bleh!!

Thanks for replies Frank & Fallout

I don't want it instead of water changes (which are 50% weekly) but in addition. If the product actually worked, I could give the tank a really good vacuum first, then do the 50% water change.

I'd already bought another cheaper battery operated vacuum (AU$16) which was complete rubbish & is already in the trash. But the Eheim one is AU$190 to AU$220, depending on where you find it. So I figured, it must have something more. Still I'm hesitant to part with that much cash, in case it is just another thing that does work.

So, I'm wondering if anyone has tried it at all.

Cheers

So I guess no one has used one of these. Ok, I think maybe I'll shelve the idea for the time being.
