GobyFan2007 Fish Addict Posts: 615 Kudos: 363 Votes: 65 Registered: 03-Feb-2007 | Hi there! Has anybody had/have this filter for their tank? I plan on ordering one in, because they look so neat and so small! They could fit just about anywhere! Should i put it on top of my tank? Or on the under it? Any experiences/thoughts? Any help is greatly apprecited! I am looking into the 2234 model, for a 30-40 gallon tank. I would try to get a nice canister, over an HOB because i think they are better, and more efficent! If this isnt so good, then how about the Magnum 350? It seems so cool, and it is see through! Is there anyone else with opions on it? I would only like one of the two, and i cant find the original ehiem. Is this better that the both of them? Thanks again all! ><> ~=!Vote Today!=~ <>< -----> View My Dragons <----- |

Eheim Ecco 2233 for 44-66 US Gal No mention of a 2234, but there is a 2235 66-80 US Gal. Eheims are an excellent pump but beware they cost more and again are well worth the extra money. Don't be caught up with X brand, filters more and faster and look the same. It is the method and quality of filtration that counts. Where to locate it I think the best place is at the same level as the ba Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. As Keith already mentioned, eheim equipment is a little more expensive but the quality is high and I feel worth the extra cost. The only place I can keep mine is right underneath the tank and it seems to work fine there. The instruction manual has information on how high the input and output can be above the pump itself. If you stay within those guidelines it should be fine. If you do go with the eheim, I'd suggest ordering an extra impeller shaft with it, I lost one of the rubber bushings down the drain while cleaning my filter. Having an extra shaft with bushings would have saved me from having to dig out an old filter to use while I waited for parts. I have a 45 gallon community tank and keep mine loaded with ehfimech with a blue coarse pad on top in the bottom basket, ehfisubstrat pro in the middle basket and ehfisubstrat pro with a fine pad on top in the top basket. |

I personally like the rough edges, but whichever one is better for my new upcoming 30 or 40 gallon long i will get. How large are they? Keith, Here is the Ecco 2234. I actually want the 2236, and i would get it, but should i? IMO, more filtration is better, and anyways, i can diffuse it if it is too strong. EDIT/UPDATE: I found BigAl's super site! I saw the discounted prices and all the inventory! I definately will bookmark that site. I found the original Eheim, and i saw it was about the same price of the Ecco, but more filter output. IMO i think that it is awesome! I also saw that they have the Professionel series, and Professionel Series II. I think i like the professionel series the best, but it is so expensive! Is there really an advantage with the professionel series? My top pick though, is the regular Ehiem, but if the Professionel series does my tank better, i will definately get it! So....Anymore experiences with the Ehiem Series of Canister Filters? Thanks Again! ><> ~=!Vote Today!=~ <>< -----> View My Dragons <----- |

It was still in the bottom of the shaft hole. A lesson to be learnt when dealing will small parts put the plugs in and work in a separate container. Goby the Pro11 has been updated to the Pro3 and it certainly would be a lot cheaper. I would be extremely careful buying second hand if it is faulty or missing any parts it will cost you a lot more that a brand new one with a full guarantee. A Eheim dealer explained to me never buy any pump if the box is not fully sealed. There are some LFS who take out parts and sell them as a spare part if they do not have that part in stock. But i am still wondering which one i should get? The original, the pro, or the ecco? BTW, keith, what is the difference between the 2 and the 3 of the pro series? Thankx! ><> ~=!Vote Today!=~ <>< -----> View My Dragons <----- |

Mine was a special package and it contained a few extras. If they have the heater model don't consider it reason if the heater breaks down it means big problems. What I have is have the inlet and outlet close to a heater at each end. I think some members have the Pro3 they might be able to help you. It is simply more convenient than the other models which are more basic. Nevertheless, they are the best filters that money can buy. I am running an Eheim 2026 Pro II without the slightest problem, while the cheap Rena Filstar is a constant source of concern (not to mention the cheap material and the lousy fitting connectors). |

Alex Fish Addict 510 Posts: 721 Registered: 03-Oct-2004 | Pro2 is just the pro with a couple of extra features like auto siphon and the like Where as the pro 3e is the most advanced canister on the market with a little on board computer that lets you set currents make waves and heaps of other cool stuff...it also has 3inputs/outputs instead of the 2 a standard canister has... completely controllable by a little handy digital display. These filters are also huge in comparison to the pro2 standing almost 2ft tall... In your situation id go for an eheim classic filter or have a look at UNIMAX filters not sure about the Magnum, we dont get them over hear. the eheim pro is alot more functional and easy to clean then the original but if that doesnt bother you the classics are alot cheaper and does an almost equally good job |

GobyFan2007 Fish Addict Posts: 615 Kudos: 363 Votes: 65 Registered: 03-Feb-2007 | Hey There! I have decided on an Eheim Ecco, as it is self priming. I really want the Pro III, but it is wayyy too expensive. Anyway, i only have a 30 or 40 gal tank to filter. I just wanted a better experience than with an HOB. The ecco, is also veyr neat, like R2-D2. Thanks again! ><> ~=!Vote Today!=~ <>< -----> View My Dragons <----- |

Don't forget to read all the instructions and know how to set it up before you start. Also keep the old filter running for at least 3-4 weeks even then you can still have a mini cycle BE PREPARED Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. Sin in Style Mega Fish Posts: 1323 Kudos: 1119 Votes: 165 Registered: 03-Dec-2003 | Own the 2222 (rated for 40g) on my 75g tank paired up with a pengiun 330 and pengiun 350 HOBs. If i had the money i would upgrade it all to a larger Eheim and put the smaller one on another tank. These things are GREAT. maintence is 1/4 of the time of the HOBs. Cant hear it at all in the stand. Never a single issue in 3 yrs ive owned it. I do believe the HOBs have better turnover leading to better mechanicle filtration. But im also comparing a pengiun 330 to a undersized canister so this might be the issue. |
