It could be as simple as the plug came loose at its connection, this can easly happen. I have a seperate power board for each unit with its own on off switch. This is very reliable and easy to check. Finally take Franks advice and get it all checked out by a qualified electricial. Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. FRANK Moderator Posts: 5108 Kudos: 5263 Votes: 1690 Registered: 28-Dec-2002 | Hi, I assume that you have a standard duplex outlet. That is an outlet with two sockets built into it. Take a floor or table lamp and plug it into first the upper socket and turn on the light. Does it light? Next, plug the lamp into the lower socket. Again turn it on. Does it come on? It the lamp comes on using both sockets, then the outlet and the power to the outlet are working just fine. If the lamp only comes on using one or the other of the sockets (one dead and one alive) one of two things is wrong. Either there is a light switch that is turned off, or the jumper between the two sockets is broken and the outlet will need to be removed and repaired or replaced. If both sockets of the outlet work then take the heater from the aquarium. Dry it off completely, and look carefully at the insides of the heater and at the glass for any signs of cracks or water vapor inside the heater. If it looks ok, then plug it into an outlet and turn the thermostat up so that it should come on. Does it? If not, then the heater is "open" and needs to be repaired or replaced. I'm not familiar with any fuses that are able to be reset. They are either good or bad. When they are bad they vaporize a tiny strip of me window of the fuse. Circuit Breakers look like a wall switch (generally mounted sidways instead of up and down) and when triped will be partially shifted from the side to the middle. Some have "red or orange flags" that show by their side if tripped. Needless to say, if you are not familiar with electricity and household wiring, get an electrician to do the repairs and don't attempt to repair the heater, replace it instead. Hooktor Fish Addict Posts: 646 Kudos: 651 Votes: 67 Registered: 22-Mar-2004 | I came home last night and tried to turn my tv on...nothing. I then realized that the heater for my betta tank is connected to the same outlet. The heater was off. He was on the bottom of the tank, really cold apparently because he had lost all his color. My tv is just a little 12 inch thing and the heater is a 25 watt. In all my other plugs i have filters, heaters, light, etc. all connected to one plug with a power cord. What could have happened? The fuse did not blow, water damage maybe?? |

sirbooks Moderator Sociopath Posts: 3875 Kudos: 5164 Votes: 932 Registered: 26-Jul-2004 | Well yeah, but most folks (myself included) consider freshwater to be whatever comes out of the tap! That includes all of the minerals etc. that are found in it. When talking about the more pure H20, we use the terms "distilled", "reverse osmosis", or "deionized". |

sirbooks Moderator Sociopath Posts: 3875 Kudos: 5164 Votes: 932 Registered: 26-Jul-2004 | Hopeless conductor? Freshwater conducts electricity fairly well. Wetting your hand in fresh water and attempting to plug in/unplug an electrical cord will often result in a nasty shock. |

dan76 Big Fish Always Reading Posts Posts: 343 Registered: 08-Jul-2003 | if your positive you havent blown a fuse then you either have broken wiring or a broken outlet . either way get a sparky to have a look asap. |

steven keyes Hobbyist Posts: 62 Kudos: 54 Votes: 1 Registered: 05-Oct-2004 | is there more than one outlet not working you probly have a loose connection some where. if you have changed or checked to see if you have power on the wire on the fuse than you have a problem in one of the outlets on that run. be carefull you might have lost the nuetral and still have power. |

I have issues in my kitchen if I try and use the microwave and the popcorn maker @the same time, both on separate outlets (microwave is one of those over stove deals) The breaker doesnt always show up as flipped either so I have to randomly try and guess which one it is that was flipped (I finally marked it after it happened a few dozen times:%)).
